Research interests and past work

My research line is focused on the geochemistry of platinum-group elements in ophiolitic complexes. My PhD was based on the understanding the magmatic origin of platinum-group minerals and the effects of post-magmatic alteration processes and metamorphism of such kind of minerals from chromite deposits from ophiolitic complexes of Cuba, Bulgaria and New Caledonia. My research interest is focused upon the study of the geochemistry, mineralogy and Os-isotope systematic of platinum group minerals related with mafic and ultramafic rocks elsewhere.

Current research projects

I am currently involved on several international projects targeting the study of platinum-group elements mineralization from ophiolite complexes. Using the in-situ measurement of Re-Os isotopes I aim to constrain the magmatic processes that take place in the Earth´s upper mantle which are responsible to concentrate these valuable noble metals.
